uttarakhand allocates rs16 crore for nandadevi kanya scheme
Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said the northern government has allocated Rs 16 to the Nandadevi Kanya program, aiming to end the gender gap during the current fiscal year.
Nishank said that under the plan, new girls from families below the poverty line will receive a time deposit cheque of Rs 5 crore, which can be cashed when the girl reaches the age of 18, the government has allocated 16 rupees for the plan.
There are only two girls in each family who can take advantage of the plan.
Fixed deposits cannot be loaned, he said.
Nishank added that the program was launched to examine child marriage, the female fetus and the empowerment of women.
